eToro Review for investors in South Africa: Social Trading & Commission-Free Stocks

A strong all-in-one platform for South African investors who want access to global stocks, ETFs, crypto and forex in one app. CopyTrader is particularly compelling — the ability to follow and replicate Pro Investors' strategies with full transparency is a genuine differentiator in this market.

Consensus Rating

The rating evaluates 42 key factors, from regulation and costs to execution, product offering and support. The score combines analysis from multiple experts and competitor comparisons to provide an aggregated and balanced assessment. This reduces individual bias and offers a more reliable reference for broader market consensus.

etoro.com

eToro is one of the world's most recognised multi-asset investment platforms, founded in 2007 and listed on NASDAQ since May 2025. It serves 40+ million registered users across 75+ countries and is regulated by the FCA in the UK, CySEC in Cyprus, ASIC in Australia and MAS in Singapore. The platform offers 7,000+ instruments — real stocks, ETFs, forex, cryptocurrencies, indices and commodities — all accessible through one of the most beautifully designed trading apps in the industry. Its defining feature is CopyTrader, a social trading system that lets you automatically replicate the positions of Pro Investors (PIs) in the eToro network in real time, with full transparency on their track record and strategy. CopyPortfolios offer curated thematic investment baskets managed by eToro's team. Stock and ETF trading is commission-free; crypto carries a ~1% fee. Spreads are above industry average, and a $5 withdrawal fee and $10 monthly inactivity fee apply after 12 months without login.
