I live in Tanzania, Can I open an Account with Skrill?

Let me guess: You've probably gone into Google and searched for "Skrill Tanzania" in the hope of an accurate response to the question: "Is Skrill [the popular eWallet] available in Tanzania?" Bad news: Unfortunately, Skrill does not open Accounts to residents in Tanzania. However, you still need to make cheap transfers via a multicurrency [USD, EUR, GBP among many others] account, you need to find an eWallet that is indeed available to clients in the country.

We have checked out the possible options that local clients have, and we believe that you should try Transferwise (www.transferwise.com), which as a multicurrency eWallet that has the advantage of providing actual Bank Accounts in the local jurisdiction of the currency [i.e., it provides you with an account in the US for USD, an account in Belgium for Euro, an account in the UK for GBP, and so on]. If you need a proper money management solution, definitely Transferwise is worth checking. By the way, it also allows you to hold a balance in Shillings. Didn't I mention it was the best possible option?

I don't want to open an account with Skrill! I just want to know what it is

Ok, in that case, Skrill is a financial platform that offers payment, shopping and money transfer services. An Online Account with Skrill in essence works very similarly to a bank account allowing: (a) to receive money, (b) to transfer money for Free, in a fast and simple way, and (c) pay for products and services online. These types of accounts are called e-wallets. For more info, check out our Full Review of Skrill.
